Matisse prend l\u2019habitude d\u2019en photographier les \u00e9tapes et de noter les modifications. Nous montrons ici les deux \u00e9tats de r\u00e9alisation de <em>Nu couch\u00e9 aux yeux bleus <\/em>qui ont retenu son attention et qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truits par les transformations successives. Est ainsi visualis\u00e9e la recherche de Matisse.<\/p>\n<p>Pour r\u00e9aliser cette restitution, nous nous sommes appuy\u00e9 sur ce que rapporte son assistante, Lydia Delectorskaya, dans \u00ab\u00a0<em>\u2026 l\u2019apparente facilit\u00e9\u2026 Henri Matisse,\u00a0 Peintures de 1935-1939<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (Adrien Maeght Editeur, 1986), deux photographies en noir et blanc rendant compte de l\u2019\u00e9tat de la peinture \u00e0 l\u2019issue des deux journ\u00e9es de travail pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant l\u2019\u00e9tape d\u00e9finitive. Elles sont accompagn\u00e9es de textes qui sont les notes dict\u00e9es apr\u00e8s chaque s\u00e9ance de travail\u00a0 par Matisse \u00e0 Lydia Delectorskaya.<\/p>\n<p>En fait, le tableau est le r\u00e9sultat de couches successives de couleur pos\u00e9es en aplats. La profondeur \u00a0y est ind\u00e9cise plut\u00f4t qu\u2019absente. Matisse proc\u00e8de par essais et erreurs corrig\u00e9es. Il explique\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0<em>Je ne peux chercher que par t\u00e2tonnements, en modifiant sans cesse mes compartiments de couleurs et mes noirs.\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb Ensuite, il \u00e9voque le temps d\u2019\u00e9laboration\u00a0: \u00ab<em>\u00a0Quand je travaille, c\u2019est vraiment une sorte de cin\u00e9ma perp\u00e9tuel<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb (Propos rapport\u00e9s par G.
